    Alterations Specialist

As we continue to evolve and grow across Canada, we are looking for a new Alterations Specialist out of our Calgary location.

    What do you need to succeed in this role?

    · 3+ years of previous experience working with alterations, upholstery, heavy-duty fabric work, designing, repair, and tailoring.

    · Experience working with multiple fabrics including cotton, nylon, polyester/synthetic, and leather.

    · Previous experience working with high-end technical apparel.

    · A passion for helping First Responders stay safe.

    · Solid listening, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

    · The ability to change priorities quickly and maintain lesser priorities.

    · The ability to meet shifting deadlines.

    Bonus skills:

    · Previous experience in a manufacturing role.

    · Knowledge of tactical gear and uniform apparel

    · Experience dealing with First Responder and/or military communities would be an asset.

    · Only English is required; additional languages are welcome!

    What’s the job?

    As an Alterations Specialist, you will work on-site at our Calgary location to assist in the alteration and production of customer clothing. This will include:

    · Hemming and lengthening pants.

    · Fitting, altering, and repairing garments.

    · Laying out, cutting, sewing, and pressing materials to make garments and small items.

    · Sewing crests, patches, Velcro, and striping to a variety of garments.

    · Operating commercial and industrial sewing machines according manufacturer specifications.

    This position is part of the 911 Supply Custom Shop, a division of the business focused on the customization of technical apparel and tactical gear. As part of the 911 Supply Custom Shop, you will also work closely with the Marketing department.

    Weekly duties will include working with design teams to produce samples and prototypes. The need to learn and operate a heat-press and other apparel machinery may also be necessary.

    Effective communication and teamwork with other departments are critical to our business’ success. You will need to be able to work well with a lot of individuals with different priorities and needs to meet your goals, as well as the company’s goals.

    Compensation:

    · The compensation range for this position is $18-20/hour to start.

    · Expected hours: 24-40 hours per week average (will consider full- or part-time).
